BlueScope Colorbond steel materials used by Perth Carport Co

Perth Carport Co

Materials and engineering

Every carport we build runs on the same materials spec sheet, regardless of size, suburb or design. Australian BlueScope structural steel for posts and beams, Colorbond cladding for the roof, Galintel connection brackets, AS-compliant fasteners. No imported steel, no cheap substitutes, no exceptions.

Materials spec

The same spec sheet on every build

Australian BlueScope structural steel for posts and beams. Colorbond cladding for the roof. Galintel connection brackets. AS-compliant fasteners. No imported steel, no cheap substitutes, no exceptions.

The consistency is about predictable performance over 25+ years in the WA environment, traceable mill certification on every batch, and a warranty chain we can stand behind.

Structural steel

What we build with, every time

Every post, beam, purlin and connection on our carports uses BlueScope steel from the Port Kembla mill. Z275 galvanising spec across the board - heavier than the AS/NZS 1397 minimum and substantially heavier than typical imported coil.

Colorbond cladding

Genuine Colorbond, profile to match the roof pitch

Trimdek for standard skillion and gable pitches. Klip-Lok for low-pitch flat roofs. Same coating spec across the range.

  • 22 colours

    Colorbond Standard

22 standard colours, classic finish, BlueScope paint and corrosion warranty. The default specification for most Perth metro builds.

  • Matt finish

    Colorbond Matt

Lower-sheen finish for contemporary designs and architect-driven builds. Slight premium over Standard.

  • Marine grade

    Colorbond Ultra

Specified for severe marine environments where heavier coatings are warranted. Extended manufacturer warranty term.

  • Heat reflective

    Colorbond Coolmax

Heat-reflective white technology for reduced under-roof temperature. Most often specified for flat-roof builds in west-facing aspects.

If your carport has a warranty issue in year 12 and one of the brackets is imported product with no Australian distributor, you've got no path to claim. The chain only works if every link is locally backed.

Why we don't mix imported product into a build

Everything else

Australian-made down to the fasteners

The reason for the all-Aus approach isn't patriotism - it's quality control and warranty alignment.

  • BlueScope structural steel

Posts, beams, purlins and connection sections from the Port Kembla mill in NSW. Mill certificates traceable to the production batch.

  • Galintel connection brackets

Z350 or equivalent connection brackets and ties, manufactured in Geelong. Same warranty chain as the BlueScope steel.

  • Stratco guttering

South-Australian manufactured guttering and downpipes distributed through the WA network. Matches the Colorbond colour range.

  • AS-rated fasteners

Class 4 stainless or galvanised bolts and screws to the relevant Australian Standard. No imported substitutes on any build.

Engineering response

How we engineer for WA site conditions

Every carport is engineered by a registered WA structural engineer for the actual wind loading and soil conditions of your block. Perth metro sits within Region A under AS/NZS 1170.2; the specific terrain category and topographic factor are confirmed during the engineering pass.

Wind loading (AS/NZS 1170.2)

What it drives in the spec

Post size, bracing pattern, footing depth

Soil classification (AS 2870)

What it drives in the spec

Footing footprint, anchor depth, articulation if reactive

Coastal salt exposure

What it drives in the spec

Heavier galvanising spec, stainless fasteners, marine-grade Colorbond where warranted

Attachment to existing structure

What it drives in the spec

Tie-in detailing, flashing, load path through host wall

Roof drainage

What it drives in the spec

Gutter and downpipe sizing, integration with existing stormwater

The actual post size, footing depth and bracing spec for your build come out of the engineering report - we don't guess and we don't apply a one-size-fits-all template.

Frequently asked questions

  • Yes. We provide the mill certificate along with the engineering certificate at handover. The mill certificate identifies the production batch, the date, the coating spec and the source mill. It's part of your build documentation.
